Valentine’s Dates You Can Take Home

by Isabel Herron 02/25/2019

Finding a dinner reservation at a nice restaurant during Valentine’s Day can feel a little like shopping on Black Friday. This year choose to beat the crowd by celebrating your love inside the comfort of your own home. Just because you’re spending the night home doesn’t mean you can’t have an eventful evening. Here are a few ideas for spending Valentine’s Day at home.

  • Dinner and a movie: Plan to shop, prep, and cook you and your partner’s favorite meal for the evening. Set the mood for your romantic dinner with candles, dim lighting, soft music, and flowers. Once dinner is complete, move the date into the living room and enjoy your favorite romantic movie.
  • Game Night: Kick off the night with your competitive side by playing a fun board game with your love. Whether you choose to test your knowledge with a game of Scrabble or cruise through the evening with a set of Connect 4, this is sure to start off an exciting evening.
  • Dance the night away: Choose your favorite variety of music and dance your heart out. Select romantic slow songs to move in a little closer together, then bring the house down with your favorite fast song.
  • Walk down memory lane: Reminisce on the early days of your love by viewing your wedding album, reading old love notes, or talking about your most cherished memories. Rekindle your passion by looking back on the early days of your relationship.
  • Have a bake-off: Get your hands dirty by whipping up your favorite dessert items. Go head-to-head with your partner to see who can come up with the best dessert of the evening. Winner gets to lick the spoon. Prepare by having ingredients for several options on hand or have a banana-split contest.
  • Arcade Games: Access your inner child with an evening of video games. Challenge each other to the ultimate race or work together to advance to the next level.
  • Spa Night: Put on your robes and warm the towels to create the ultimate evening of relaxation. Take turns giving each other massages, pedicures, or facials. End the evening with a warm bubble bath and wake up the next morning rested and rejuvenated.
  • A night under the stars: Set down a quilt and bundle up for a night of stargazing cuddled next to your special person. Keep on the lookout for a shooting star and get ready to make a wish for everlasting love.

Get creative with your partner to create a fun-filled date night. Spend this Valentine's day away from the noise of the crowds and at home close to the one you love most. If you and your partner are in the market for your forever home, spend a romantic day looking at houses set up by your real estate professional so that next year you can spend a romantic Valentine's Day in your new home.
